Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love everything about it - the colors, the smells, the lights, even people seem more cheerful. As you get closer to Christmas, though, I see a lot of frazzled people doing their last minute shopping - not knowing which way to turn because a lot of the items they'd thought to get are sold out, while others don't even know where to start.
When I lived in South Africa, I was a Tupperware demonstrator for close to 3 years. I loved it. I'm a people person. I enjoy making new friends and seem to find them where ever I go. So, most of my customers became friends. Selling Tupperware during the holidays was especially fun and brings back wonderful memories. You meet so many different people during your demonstrations. When you get invited into their homes, you also get the benefit of sharing in all their various customs, traditions, foods, desserts, more food and more desserts! I forgot to mention above that I'm a people person who loves food and I'm not afraid to try out new foods - I especially loved doing demonstrations for people from different nationalities and trying out all the different dishes.
As with most kitchenware demonstrators, we used to share a recipe with our clients and either cook or bake at their homes. However, during the holidays, good food was in ample supply, so I used to turn most of my tupperware dishes into Christmas gifts. For example, a container that was meant for make-up, I would put little soaps and toiletries in it and then dress it up in my favorite Christmas colors which are red, green and gold. My most successful sale was in fact to a group of men at a company where I was allowed to put up a lunch-time demo. Those men, like a lot of our hubbies, were totally clueless as to what to get their wives while Christmas day was fast approaching. When they saw the containers all dressed up, they remembered that their wives liked tupperware, and voila, I had 17 boxes (large - removal size) of merchandise shipped to my home, spent a little over a week decorating containers and delivered them all the week before Christmas. I had several calls from happy wives and in fact 7 of them became regular customers.
With this in mind, I decided to make Christmas gift baskets to help those shoppers that run out of time or just want something different. I also make 'food' baskets with wine, cheese, crackers, nuts, etc. but those I only make on order. These, that you see in this blog, I made with the hopes of selling them at a craft fair at the end of the month, but I've already had a couple of orders from friends that have seen them. They really are "pampering" baskets. Their contents are the kinds of things that you normally don't go out and buy for yourself - but you really enjoy receiving them. I'm busy making more with the Disney Princesses and with Spiderman. I can make them to match any color scheme or theme of your choice.
They are all packaged in cellophane as you see in some of them. The others, I photographed before wrapping them so you can have a better look.
Well, this has turned out to be quite a long blog. So take a peek, place an order, or just leave me a comment on your thoughts about them. I love hearing from all of you!
